About The Position

To provide individualized instructional support and interventions to students with disabilities, ensuring their academic, social and emotional development in an inclusive educational environment.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Special Education or related field.
  • Valid Indiana Teaching License with a Special Education endorsement (e.g., Mild Intervention, Moderate Intervention) or eligibility and willingness to obtain one.
  • Knowledge of individualized education plan (IEP) development, implementation and assessment.
  • Excellent communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to create a positive and inclusive learning environment.
  • Proficiency in implementing evidence-based instruction and behavior management strategies.
  • Commitment to ongoing professional development and collaboration with colleagues and families.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience working with students with various disabilities preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Develops and implements individualized education plans (IEPs) tailored to the unique needs of each student.
  • Provides direct instruction and support to students with disabilities in both general and special education settings.
  • Adapts and modifies curriculum, materials and teaching strategies to meet the diverse learning needs of students.
  • Assesses and documents student progress towards IEP goals and provides regular feedback to students and parents.
  • Collaborates with general education teachers to promote inclusive practices and supports the integration of students with disabilities into mainstream classrooms.
  • Maintains accurate records of student performance, attendance, behavior and provides regular updates to parents and guardians.
  • Participates in professional development opportunities to enhance teaching skills and stays updated on best practices in special education.
  • Creates a safe and supportive classroom environment that promotes respect, understanding and inclusivity.
  • Engages in school-wide initiatives and activities, contributing to a positive school culture.
