About The Position

The Special Education Teacher at Coral Academy of Science Las Vegas supports students with disabilities by developing and implementing individualized education programs (IEPs), delivering differentiated instruction, and ensuring compliance with federal and state special education regulations. This educator works collaboratively with general education teachers, service providers, and families to promote academic, behavioral, and social-emotional growth.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in special education or related field.
  • Valid Nevada teaching license with appropriate special education endorsement.
  • Strong understanding of IDEA, IEP development, and inclusive practices.
  • Deep belief in the potential of all learners and commitment to inclusion.
  • Strong collaboration, communication, and problem-solving skills.
  • Knowledge of evidence-based interventions and accommodations.
  • Organized and detail-oriented with ability to manage multiple deadlines.
  • Patience, empathy, and a student-centered approach to teaching.

Nice To Haves

  • Two or more years of successful experience teaching students with disabilities.
  • Experience in a charter, college-prep, or STEM-focused school environment.
  • Familiarity with instructional technology and data collection systems.
  • Bilingual or multilingual skills are a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Develop, implement, and monitor Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) in compliance with IDEA and state regulations.
  • Provide specialized instruction to students with disabilities in inclusive and/or pull-out settings.
  • Collaborate with general education teachers to ensure access to the curriculum and effective accommodations.
  • Conduct assessments and progress monitoring to evaluate student achievement and adjust instruction.
  • Participate in IEP meetings and maintain accurate records and documentation.
  • Implement behavior intervention plans and support social-emotional learning strategies.
  • Work with related service providers (e.g., speech, OT, PT) to support student goals.
  • Communicate regularly with families about student progress and educational needs.
  • Maintain compliance with timelines and documentation required by law and CASLV policies.
  • Engage in ongoing professional development in special education best practices
