Requirements

• Knowledge of IDEA regulations and IEP processes.
• Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution.
• Completion of an approved Special Education preparation program.
• Passing scores on required Washington endorsement exams (e.g., WEST-E or equivalent).
• Valid Washington State Special Education teaching certificate (P–12) issued by OSPI, or eligibility to obtain.

Responsibilities

• Develop, implement, and maintain compliant IEPs.
• Track student progress using data collection and analysis.
• Collaborate with general education staff to support inclusive practices.
• Provide individualized and small-group instruction aligned with IEP goals.
• Participate in evaluations, planning meetings, and multidisciplinary teams.
