About The Position
Pembroke Public Schools is seeking a dedicated and compassionate Special Education Teacher for a substantially separate social-emotional classroom at the elementary level. This classroom supports students with emotional, behavioral, and social needs who require a highly structured, therapeutic learning environment. The teacher will implement individualized academic and behavioral programming while collaborating closely with support staff and related service providers.
Responsibilities
- Provide specialized instruction aligned with students' IEPs in a substantially separate setting
- Utilize evidence-based strategies to support students with emotional and behavioral disabilities
- Develop and implement behavior intervention plans and social-emotional learning strategies
- Create a safe, structured, and supportive learning environment focused on relationship-building and positive behavior support
- Collaborate regularly with school counselors, psychologists, BCBA, paraprofessionals, and related service providers
- Collect and maintain data on student progress toward academic and behavioral goals
- Evaluate students through formal and informal assessments, write comprehensive special education evaluation reports, and participate in the eligibility determination process
- Facilitate and participate in IEP and annual review meetings, contributing to the development of appropriate goals and services
- Communicate effectively with families and maintain regular, professional correspondence
- Support successful inclusion opportunities when appropriate
- Maintain compliance with all state and federal special education regulations
