Special Education Teacher (2 Positions), University Elementary School (2026-2027 School Year) Classification: Exempt Date Posted: February 19, 2026 Contract Length/ Days: (2026-2027/ 190 days) Fall 2026 Start Date Salary: Salary placement on our Certified Salary schedule is dependent on the employees' education and/or work experience. Certified/licensed employees will be granted one (1) year for each full year of contractual and/or work experience up to a maximum of ten (10) years, which includes in-district and out-of-district contractual teaching and/or work experience. Reports to: School Principal Deadline for application: Until Filled EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE Required: Bachelor's degree Colorado Teaching License (Endorsement in related field) Preferred: Experience in related field Bilingual JOB DESCRIPTION Summary/Objective: Provide an enriched atmosphere where students learn subject matter and/or skills that will contribute to their development as mature, able, and responsible members of society. Facilitate learning and guide students toward the fulfillment of their potential for intellectual, emotional and psychological growth and maturation. Responsible to the building principal and department director where assigned. To provide services to students with disabilities as defined in their Individualized Education Program and to work collaboratively with related services providers and general educators to ensure students receive an appropriate education.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree
• Colorado Teaching License (Endorsement in related field)

Responsibilities

• Plans a program of study that meets the individual needs, interests, and abilities of students
• Creates a classroom environment that is conducive to learning and appropriate to the maturity and interests of students
• Maintains a discipline and classroom control that fosters a safe and positive environment for all student and staff in accordance with school and county policies
• Ensures adequate supervision to assure health, welfare, and safety of all students
• Guides the learning process toward the achievement of curriculum standards, establishes clear objectives for all lessons, units, projects, and communicates these objectives to students

• Plans and supervises purposeful assignments for instructional assistants and/or volunteer(s), and works cooperatively with department heads
• Attends staff meetings and serves on staff committees as required
• Employs a variety of instructional techniques and instructional media to meet the needs and capabilities of the individuals or student groups involved
• Strives to implement by instruction and action the district's philosophy of education and instructional standards and objectives
