About The Position

Tiverton Public Schools is seeking a compassionate and highly qualified Special Education Teacher with a Severe/Profound certification to provide individualized instruction to students receiving homebound medical services. This position plays a critical role in supporting students with significant disabilities who are temporarily unable to attend school due to medical conditions.

Requirements

• Valid RI Teaching Certificate in Special Education with Severe/Profound endorsement required.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
• Ability to work independently and with flexibility.
• Reliable transportation and ability to travel within the district as needed.

Nice To Haves

• Experience working with students with complex medical and developmental needs preferred.

Responsibilities

• Provide direct instruction to students in their home or approved settings, based on IEP goals and instructional needs.
• Develop and implement individualized lesson plans aligned with each student’s IEP.
• Collaborate with families, medical professionals, school staff, and related service providers.
• Maintain accurate records of instruction, progress, and communication.
• Ensure instruction is adapted and accessible to meet each student’s cognitive, physical, and health-related needs.
• Participate in IEP meetings, progress reviews, and relevant professional development.
