About The Position
The Special Education Teacher at West Carthage Elementary is responsible for planning, delivering, and assessing educational programs tailored for students with disabilities. This role requires a deep understanding of the New York State Learning Standards and the ability to create an inclusive and supportive learning environment. The teacher must demonstrate thorough knowledge of the subject area and employ effective instructional practices that engage students and promote their participation in the learning process. In addition to delivering lessons, the teacher is expected to utilize available resources and data to inform instruction, ensuring that all students' diverse learning needs are met. Classroom management skills are essential to create an environment conducive to learning, and the teacher must implement assessment techniques to measure student progress effectively. The role also involves maintaining confidentiality, supporting the district's Code of Conduct, and fostering positive relationships with students, staff, and the community. Continuous professional development is encouraged to enhance teaching practices and expertise in special education. The Special Education Teacher will supervise students both in and outside the classroom, ensuring a safe and supportive environment. The position requires excellent communication skills, both written and oral, to effectively interact with students, caregivers, and colleagues.
