About The Position
Join Our Team as a Special Education Teacher at Sheldon Academy! This position is located in Rutland, Vermont, and offers a unique opportunity to make a significant impact on the lives of children with special needs. The Vermont Achievement Center, Inc. (VAC) has been serving the community since 1937, providing innovative programs in special and early education, child care, water safety, and aqua therapy. Each year, VAC positively impacts over 7,000 children and families, and we are looking for dedicated individuals to join our mission. As a Special Education Teacher, you will be responsible for providing direct instruction and in-class support to students, focusing on both learning and social skills. You will assess student abilities and monitor their progress towards general education and Individualized Education Program (IEP) goals, with minimal tri-annual evaluation responsibilities. Your role will also involve implementing, editing, and consulting on IEP plans, sharing case management responsibilities, and preparing IEP progress reports. Collaboration with general educators is essential, as you will help prepare report cards and attend scheduled student meetings. In addition to these responsibilities, you will plan and implement a curriculum based on Vermont State Standards, maintain organized materials and student records, and provide consultation on therapeutic and behavior support methods. This position requires a commitment to fostering a supportive and inclusive learning environment for all students.
