About The Position
As a Special Education Teacher at Kohler Academy, a Bancroft School, you will play a crucial role in helping children with diverse challenges build essential skills for their future. This position requires you to utilize a wealth of curriculum and clinical resources to design individualized student goals that cater to the unique needs of each student. For over 50 years, Kohler Academy has excelled in providing high-quality education and excellent therapeutic services to exceptional students with very special needs in a safe and nurturing environment. The community at Kohler Academy, which includes the team, students, and their families, is dedicated to helping each student reach their full potential as they transition to life beyond high school. In this role, you will be responsible for planning, monitoring, and implementing high-quality instructional lesson plans that align with the New Jersey Student Learning Standards across all core subjects. You will need to make appropriate accommodations and modifications for students with multiple disabilities, assess individual abilities, and create customized lesson plans that address specific Individualized Education Plans (IEPs). Additionally, you will review IEPs to ensure that goals are appropriate and recommend modifications as necessary. Training for parents, both in the classroom and at home, will also be part of your responsibilities, along with maintaining effective communication with students, families, and guardians.
