Summit Academy, the in-district public day school of the Amherst-Pelham Regional School District has an opening for a Massachusetts Department of Elementary and Secondary Education Certified Special Education teacher. The teacher will be primarily responsible for teaching middle school students the academic curriculum however the schedule may at times include high school as well. Summit Academy is a separate day school for students with IEPs. The school provides a small, therapeutic, and highly supervised learning environment to enable students to make effective progress towards their goals. Students with social, emotional, and behavioral needs are educated in a learning community that supports their needs in order to access the curriculum. Counseling services are integrated into the school experience on a routine basis. Class sizes are small and a great deal of individual attention and support is provided to students. Teachers design, differentiate, and scaffold instruction to meet the diverse learning needs of the students.
