About The Position

Learn Academy is looking for a full-time Special Education Teacher or a Special Education Teacher Intern for our location in Victorville, CA, with Moderate/Severe Extensive Needs credential. Learn Academy/Beach Cities Learning is a certified K -12 Private Day School approved by the California Department of Education to provide Special Education Services for various disability categories. We utilize a highly-structured, school-wide Positive Behavioral Supports program that teaches students Academic, Social/Emotional Problem-Solving and Strategies. Our team values collaboration, integrity, and the desire to make a difference in the lives of students who struggle to be successful.

Requirements

  • Valid California Education Specialist Instruction Credential (Mild to Moderate Disabilities) or ability to enroll into the Special Education program and work as a full-time Teacher Intern.
  • Bachelor's degree required.
  • At least 1 year of experience working with students with emotional disabilities preferred.
  • Spanish speaking a plus, but not required.

Responsibilities

  • Provide an educational atmosphere where students can fulfill their potential for intellectual, emotional, physical, and psychological growth.
  • Organize and implement an individual instructional program that results in students achieving academic success.
  • Develop and implement student Individual Education Plans.
  • Implement instructional activities that engage students in meaningful learning experiences.
  • Identify, select, and modify instructional resources to meet the needs of students with varying backgrounds, learning styles, and special needs.
  • Assist in assessing changing curricular needs and offer plans for improvement.
  • Provide a positive environment encouraging active engagement in the learning process.
