About The Position
Herron Classical Schools seeks a Special Education Teacher of Record for the 2026 – 2027 school year.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree Required.
- Valid Indiana teaching license in Special Education is Required.
Nice To Haves
- Prior classroom teaching experience in Special Education is strongly preferred.
Responsibilities
- Assist with the review of special education needs for incoming students.
- Write Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) and maintain all required records as the teacher of record, as assigned by the Director of Special Education.
- Work with students receiving special education services and collaborate with faculty to ensure appropriate supports and instruction are provided in alignment with each student’s accommodations.
- Collaborate directly with general education teachers to address classroom-based concerns and instructional needs.
- Follow all Indiana Department of Education (IDOE) and school guidelines related to the development and implementation of IEPs.
- Assist with audits to ensure faculty adherence to student IEPs and the consistent provision of required accommodations.
- Participate in case conferences and annual reviews, including assisting with the compilation and maintenance of required documentation for student records.
- Support compliance with Indiana laws related to student files, services, and conferences.
- Communicate effectively with parents and guardians of students receiving special education services.
- Attend scheduled faculty meetings, professional development sessions, and other meetings as determined by the Executive Leadership Team.
- Attend evening events, including but not limited to Parent Orientation, Meet the Teacher Night, Parent/Teacher Conferences, and Open Houses, as listed on the Master Calendar.
- Collaborate with administration and faculty to develop and refine policies, guidelines, and operational procedures for Herron Classical Schools.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the administration.
