The Special Education Teacher will be responsible for instructing students through a resource room model and/or a co-teaching model with a general education teacher that utilizes push-in and pull-out instruction. This teacher will be expected to design and provide specialized instruction in academic curricula, social competence, and independence for students that have developmental and physical disabilities. This K-12 teacher will serve as the primary planner and caseload provider for up to 18 special education students in grades K-5 (unless otherwise assigned) and will ensure that IEPs are properly scheduled, planned, conducted, and implemented. The teacher will ensure that general education teachers receive notice and instruction in the implementation of student accommodations, modifications, and interventions, etc. The teacher shall be responsible for documenting and reporting student progress, behavior, and attendance and communicating it effectively to appropriate stakeholders.
