Special Education Teacher - Multi-categorical, Available 2025 - 2026 School Year
About The Position
This is a 190 day position. This position is for the 2025 - 2026 school year. Multi-categorical programs at the secondary level provide specialized instruction and support for students with various disabilities who receive academic and functional instruction through a modified curriculum. Some but not all of the students served in these programs follow the South Carolina High School Credential course of study. Additional specialized instruction and support may be required in the areas of functional needs, behavioral intervention, and/or social-emotional instruction and support. Teachers accepting positions in Multi-categorical programs must become certified in CPI and follow all district procedures related to the use of CPI techniques. Requires supervision and proper utilization of one or more teaching assistants.
Requirements
- Multi-Categorical Certification
- Intellectual Disabilities Certification
- Severe Disabilities Certification
- EMD, TMD, Generic SpEd (no longer issued but acceptable as long as teaching certificate has current validity)
Nice To Haves
- Learning Disabilities certification will be considered on a case-by-case basis.
Responsibilities
- Provide specialized instruction and support for students with various disabilities who receive academic and functional instruction through a modified curriculum.
- Provide specialized instruction and support in the areas of functional needs, behavioral intervention, and/or social-emotional instruction and support.
- Become certified in CPI and follow all district procedures related to the use of CPI techniques.
- Supervise and properly utilize one or more teaching assistants.
