About The Position

The Syosset Central School District seeks a Special Education Teacher for Harry B. Thompson Middle School. This anticipated vacancy is a probationary appointment. The successful candidate must possess the following qualifications.

Requirements

• Hold NYSED certification in Teaching Students with Disabilities (5-9 or 7-12)
• Severe or Multiple Disabilities Extension/Annotation preferred
• Prior successful experience teaching Special Education in a special class setting
• Prior successful experience teaching in an integrated co-teaching setting
• Exemplary understanding of IEP development and implementation
• Experience in the delivery of specially designed instruction including the application of the principles of ABA
• Experience working collaboratively with related service providers and Behavior Intervention Specialist
• Expertise in differentiation of instruction

Responsibilities

• Experience working collaboratively with related service providers and Behavior Intervention Specialist to design programs, develop curricula and behavior procedures as well as track progress
• Expertise in differentiation of instruction to support the success and growth of all students
