Special Education Teacher in Training
About The Position
The Teacher in Training will support the teacher while learning critical skills to design individualized instruction and a comprehensive education program for students with complex disabilities in a self-contained classroom. Strong supervision and leadership skills required. Responsible for ensuring student safety, professional interactions, program implementation, will be trained to conduct assessments and complete required paperwork for an IEP, and will support the teacher in staff supervision. Participates in interdepartmental coordination of education programs and services and may serve as a substitute in a classroom.
Requirements
- Bachelor's Degree in related field required, enrolled in a master's degree Program and working toward obtaining a valid NYS Teacher certificate.
- A completed a bachelor's degree in education or a related field and is enrolled in a program leading toward a master's in special education or currently has a New York State teacher certification in Special Education or Students with Disabilities.
