About The Position

As a Special Education Teacher at Walsh Academy, you will lead classroom instruction in a Special Education environment, supervising and coordinating the classroom, and developing and implementing the school curriculum to ensure every student's academic and vocational success. Salary Range : $58,000-$63,000 prorated by school year

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Special Education from an accredited institution.
  • Professional Educator License (PEL) with a Learning Behavioral Specialist certificate (LBSI) .
  • Valid Illinois driver's license required.
  • Ability to assess student skills and design Individualized Educational Plans (IEPs).
  • Knowledge of special education best practices and policies.
  • Excellent communication skills with various stakeholders.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, Google G-Suite, and educational software.
  • Ability to organize workloads, handle crisis intervention, and prioritize tasks effectively.
  • Ability to sit, stand, bend, walk, and lift/move objects as needed.
  • Capable of providing physical restraint for students' safety.
  • Visual, hearing, and learning capabilities to perform job functions.
  • Comfortable working on a computer for extended periods.
  • Work during school and vocational program hours.
  • Ability to work off-site during remote learning days.
  • Work in various educational and administrative settings.
  • Duties may involve contact with students in challenging situations.
