Behavior Support Programs provide specialized instruction and support for students with various disabilities experiencing behavioral or social-emotional difficulties which interfere with the student's participation in the general education setting. Specialized instruction and support for academics and/or functional skills may also be required. The use of effective behavioral strategies such as level systems, visual schedules, etc., is expected. Teachers accepting positions in Behavior Support Programs must become certified in CPI and follow all district procedures related to the use of CPI techniques. Requires supervision and proper utilization of one or more teaching assistants. Certification requirements: Emotional Disabilities Multi-Categorical Generic SpEd (no longer issued but acceptable as long as teaching certificate has current validity)
