About The Position

We have an opening for a Learning Support Co-Teacher/Special Education Case Manager at our IB campus. Among other things, this individual will provide English/Language Arts support to students in 7th and 8th grades. An SLCS teacher is responsible for planning, instruction, activities and assessments based on the SLCS curriculum. Teachers are tasked with creating an integrated instructional program that supports an inclusion-based learning approach fostering a safe environment that respects academic and cultural diversity. Additionally, teachers are expected to work together with other teaching and support professionals in a collaborative manner to provide teaching strategies and methods that address a wide range of learning styles, individual needs, interests, abilities, and maturity levels of students. Among other things, the Special Education Teacher is responsible for: Assessing students’ developmental, cognitive, emotional and social needs, and learning styles; providing developmentally appropriate instruction to meet those needs Completing academic testing as required, utilizing the resulting information along with classroom observations to identify students to be placed in or out of the Special Education program Working collaboratively with classroom teachers to develop and implement developmentally appropriate instruction and activities that integrate, support, and expand the SLCS curricula Developing, monitoring, and reporting on all IEPs within the established guidelines Ensuring differentiated instruction, accommodations, modifications and other IEP considerations are occurring consistently as outlined in the IEP Acting as an advocate for all students to ensure that their needs are being met Evaluating student performance and sharing information with the classroom teacher, support teachers, and administration Working in cooperation with classroom teachers to identify students who may be at risk academically and/or behaviorally

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Education or related field
  • Pennsylvania Department of Education Certification in Special Education 7-12 or K-12
  • Pennsylvania Department of Education Certification in English 7-12 helpful
  • Prior Experience teaching English/Language Arts helpful
  • Prior experience with International Baccalaureate MYP or DP programmes a plus
  • Understanding and commitment to inclusive learning
  • Ability to work effectively in a collaborative team environment
  • Strong research, planning, and organizational skills
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to positively interact with students to encourage development
  • Experience with MS Office, Google Docs

Nice To Haves

  • Pennsylvania Department of Education Certification in English 7-12 helpful
  • Prior Experience teaching English/Language Arts helpful
  • Prior experience with International Baccalaureate MYP or DP programmes a plus
