About The Position

The position is for a 1.00 FTE Special Education Teacher (7-12) at Finger Lakes Secondary School (FLSS) in Rushville, NY. The role involves working with students with autism, emotional and/or developmental disabilities, including those with oppositional and aggressive behaviors, mood disorders, and potentially severe and unpredictable physical and/or verbal outbursts. Teachers are expected to provide a safe and orderly environment conducive to teaching and learning, offer specialized instruction, collaborate with colleagues, communicate effectively with parents, and record and report student progress. This position is to cover a leave and applicants will be reviewed on a continuing basis based on program needs.

Requirements

• NYS Teacher Certification - Students with Disabilities 7-12 or Special Education K-12.
• Preference for candidates with dual certification in a SWD content area (Science).
• Knowledge of the NYS Learning Standards and Assessments.
• Knowledge of curriculum content and accepted methods of instruction.
• Ability to work collaboratively as a member of a team.
• Excellent written and oral communication skills.
• Promoting equity and culturally responsive practices to create inclusive environments.
