About The Position

Warren Consolidated Schools is seeking candidates for the following position for the 2025-2026 school year: Position: Special Education Supervisor Department: Special Education Location: Administration Building Work Year: 204 Days School Year: 2025-2026 Posting closes: March 2, 2026 Primary Function The job of Special Education Supervisor is done for the purpose/s of planning, implementing, supervising and maintaining the district's Special Education programs and services; and assisting the Special Education Director in maintaining staffing to ensure that programs and services are achieved within budget.

Requirements

  • Master’s Degree and valid Michigan Teacher Certificate with a Special Education endorsement required
  • At least three (3) years of successful experience in Special Education required
  • Meet Full Approval for Special Education Supervisor through Michigan Special Education Code
  • School Administrator Certificate required

Responsibilities

  • Assists Special Education Director with managing grant and general fund account of assigned programs and all related financial activity for the purpose of ensuring that expenses are within budget limits and/or fiscal practices are followed.
  • Assists Special Education Director with managing the special education department for the purpose of delivering services which conform to established local, state and federal guidelines.
  • Attends various meetings (e.g. Board meetings, county/tri-county special education administrator meeting, training, hearings, IEP’s, etc.) for the purpose of providing direction and/or receiving information.
  • Collaborates with other district personnel for the purpose of initiating, implementing and/or maintaining services and programs.
  • Work with Special Education Director to develop proposals, new programs, budgets and grant opportunities for the purpose of meeting identified district goals as well as state and federal mandates.
  • Facilitates meetings, processes, (e.g. due process hearings, district liaison, special education parent groups, etc.) for the purpose of implementing and maintaining district special education programs and services in compliance with local, state and federal requirements.
  • Implements assigned programs and/or projects for the purpose of conforming to district and state curriculum and/or instructional objectives.
  • Monitors districtwide and school site based special education programs and/or projects for the purpose of implementing and achieving objectives within area of responsibility.
  • Monitors the special education student management systems (e.g. TIEnet, ) for the purpose of ensuring accuracy and compliance with local, state and federal pupil accounting guidelines.
  • Participates in meetings, workshops and seminars for the purpose of conveying and/or gathering information required to perform functions.
  • Performs other related duties, as assigned for the purpose of ensuring the efficient and effective functioning of the work unit.
  • Performs personnel functions (e.g. interviewing, evaluating, supervising, ) for the purpose of maintaining adequate staffing, enhancing productivity of personnel and achieving objectives within budget.
  • Provides ongoing and systematic professional development for administrators and special education staff for the purpose of program and pupil accounting compliance, student placement and staffing allocations.
  • Researches a variety of information for the purpose of providing department leadership, implementing best practices, improving existing programs and/or assisting Special Education Director with developing new programs.
  • Supervises special education personnel in a professional manner (e.g. social workers, psychologists, teacher consultant, speech and language therapists, etc.) for the purpose of carrying out objectives within area of responsibility.
