Description Supports the educational service delivery of speech language pathology (SLP) in the Least Restrictive environment through collaborative practice and content peer coaching. Ensures access to a continuum of services so that students with disabilities have an opportunity to be educated with nondisabled peers to the maximum extent possible. Supports students’ access to the general education curriculum and grade level standards. Works collaboratively with the supervisor and others to implement professional learning communities and system, department and office initiatives. Responsibilities EXAMPLES OF DUTIES: Assists the Supervisor, Related Services in consultation of and program evaluation of SLP services county-wide. Provides peer coaching/other duties in compliance with the TABCO Master Agreement. Ensure compliance with current assessment and service delivery of evidence based best practices as mandated by federal, state, local and system guidelines. Collaborate with staff from the Department of Special Education (DSE) and other departments/offices to support related services in schools and improve student outcomes through interprofessional collaborative practice. Provides and documents services such as attending teams, completing assessments and other services as assigned. Assists with collecting and/or analyzing data to support the provision of related services and management of materials, equipment, and supplies. Develops new materials and guidelines for SLPs that reflect updated, effective procedures and best practices. Provides feedback to SLPs in the coordination of SLP services system-wide. Supports with the identification of needs in schools and determining the SLP assignments. Assists with the placement and follow-up of contract agency SLPs in BCPS schools. Provides consultations, demonstration sessions, and materials to therapists. Participates in the design, preparation, and implementation of staff development activities for SLPs including evidence-based practice, and orientation/training sessions for new staff. Serves as a resource to SLPs, other special education personnel, families, and administrators regarding special education related services policies and procedures that apply to the delivery of SLP services. Collaborate with the Infants and Toddlers program regarding SLP services. Assists in the recruitment and hiring of highly qualified SLPs. Assists in identifying and processing requisitions for assessment, instructional materials, and equipment for students as outlined on their Individualized Education Program (IEP). Consults with the Department of Facilities Management regarding modifications for accessibility. Assists with monitoring services for extended school year (ESY). Assists in maintaining compliance with federal, state, and local standards (e.g., Third Party Billing, MSDE). Performs other duties as assigned. Qualifications MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Education, Training and Experience: Graduation from an accredited college or university with a master’s degree in speech language pathology. Five years of related professional experience. Licenses and Certificates: Possession of a Speech-Language Pathology License from the Maryland Department of Health and Mental Hygiene (DHMH) required. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: Thorough knowledge of educational speech language pathology services to children, birth to 21, and their families. Thorough knowledge of the principles and practices of speech language pathology. Demonstration of outstanding oral and written communication skills. Demonstration of strong human relations, communication, and organizational skills. Demonstration of strong computer/technology skills. Ability to plan, coordinate, and oversee the work of professionals providing speech language pathology services to students. PHYSICAL AND ENVIRONMENTAL CONDITIONS: The work of this class is generally performed in school, community settings and office environments. Work requires the ability to move throughout schools and classrooms. Work includes the operation of office equipment, including personal computers, assistive technology, and occasional limited physical activities. Requires travel to worksites throughout the county.
