About The Position

Citizens of the World Mar Vista (“CWC MV”) is seeking a passionate, skilled, and inclusive Special Education/RSP Teacher to join our team of educators working to provide an equitable and rigorous education for all students, including those with disabilities. The ideal candidate is deeply committed to meeting students' diverse learning needs and to collaborating with families, colleagues, and specialists to build supportive learning environments.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree and valid California Education Specialist Credential (Mild/Moderate or Moderate/Severe) and valid Education Specialist Instruction Credential or a pathway to obtain valid credential
  • Valid CA English Learner authorization (CLAD, BCLAD, or equivalent).
  • At least 2 years of classroom teaching experience.
  • Experience working in socio-economically, racially, and culturally diverse communities.
  • Instructional Expertise: Deep understanding of evidence-based practices for students with disabilities and the ability to implement them in a K-8 classroom setting.
  • Cultural Competency & Equity Focus: Commitment to anti-racist teaching practices and culturally relevant pedagogy.
  • Collaboration & Communication: Ability to build strong relationships with students, families, colleagues, and external partners.
  • Data-Driven Decision-Making: Utilize student data to drive instruction, monitor progress, and improve student outcomes.
  • Adaptability & Initiative: Flexible and proactive in meeting student needs in a dynamic school environment.
  • Organizational Skills: Effectively manages documentation, IEP compliance, and multiple priorities.
  • Growth Mindset: Receptive to feedback, eager to learn, and reflective in practice.
  • Technical Proficiency: Effectively use special education systems such as Welligent or other IEP compliance platforms to document services, monitor progress, and ensure data accuracy.

Nice To Haves

  • Bilingual in Spanish or Korean.
  • Experience in inclusive settings and/or co-teaching models.

Responsibilities

  • Design and deliver instruction aligned to Common Core State Standards and student IEP goals.
  • Differentiate instruction to meet diverse learning needs and ensure access to general education curriculum.
  • Implement accommodations, modifications, and inclusive practices that promote student success.
  • Develop and monitor Individualized Education Plans (IEPs) in compliance with legal and school timelines.
  • Collect and analyze academic, behavioral, and socio-emotional data to inform instruction and support.
  • Track student growth and communicate progress with families and IEP teams.
  • Work closely with general education teachers, service providers, and school leaders to ensure IEP fidelity and student access to the least restrictive environment.
  • Participate in Student Support Team (SST) meetings and lead IEP meetings with clarity and compassion.
  • Partner with families to build trust and align supports across home and school.
  • Oversee implementation of Response to Intervention (RTI) strategies and maintain documentation.
  • Ensure compliance with federal, state, and district special education policies and timelines.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date student records and documentation using Welligent and other SPED related school systems.
  • Engage in ongoing professional development and reflective practice aligned to CWCLA's mission.
  • Foster a classroom culture rooted in inclusion, equity, joy, and social emotional learning.
  • Contribute to the stewardship of the school community and uphold CWCLA's mission and core values.
