Position Overview You will be responsible for teaching students with learning disabilities or physical, mental, or emotional challenges by assessing individual needs, developing individualized education plans (IEPs), adapting curriculum, delivering instruction using specialized teaching methods, monitoring student progress and collaborating with parents and other teammates to ensure each student reaches their full potential within the classroom environment. This role is an exciting opportunity for teachers who believe deeply that all students can and must achieve at high levels and who are hungry to grow as people and professionals in a collaborative, results-oriented environment. This is a full-time, exempt role that reports to the principal.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree, required
  • A California Single Subject Teaching Credential or Out of State Teaching Credential, preferred ; clear path to receiving a teaching credential within a year, required
  • Knowledge of special education laws and regulations, required
  • Ability to adapt instruction to meet diverse student needs, required
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to communicate effectively with various audiences (including colleagues, students, families), required

Nice To Haves

  • 2+ years of teaching experience with a strong record of improving student learning, strongly preferred

Responsibilities

  • Support teachers in implementing best-in-class instructional practices.
  • Coordinate and implement small group instruction for students with disabilities, in accordance with their IEPs.
  • Manage the delivery of special education services and supports.
  • Modify curriculum to meet individual student needs.
  • Regularly track student mastery and goal attainment through data collection systems and prioritize highest-leverage data to adapt and improve instruction on an ongoing basis.
  • Provide students with clear, actionable feedback to drive continuous growth.
  • Lead special education case management and compliance.
  • Provide overall case management, including assessing students individual learning needs.
  • Develop appropriate IEPs and collaborate with general education teachers and the special education team to ensure that all special education related laws and timelines are adhered to with 100% fidelity.
  • Build transformative relationships with students and families.
  • Support students in meeting yearly promotion requirements through social-emotional support, guided reflection, and one-on-one conferences.
  • Advocate for student access to the resources and supports they need.
  • Keep families engaged in their childs progress and collaborate on their education.
  • Create and maintain a caring and accountable student culture.
  • Implement clear, consistent, logical class structures, routines, and expectations aligned with our student culture model.
  • Foster a sense of community through relationship-building among students.
  • Hold consistently high expectations for all students and support students to meet them.
  • Create a sense of urgency, optimism, and engagement amongst students.
