About The Position

Provide multisensory reading approaches to struggling readers (i.e. Orton Gillingham and Wilson). Match and adapt multisensory reading approaches to individual student needs. Develops and delivers multisensory reading lessons to individual and small groups. Collects, records, and evaluates on going data on pupils' reading growth, to support lesson planning, IEP development, and progress monitoring. Communicates regularly with parents in addition to conferences to discuss pupil's progress. Ongoing collaboration with school and district personnel. Consultation with school staff regarding reading development for struggling readers. Actively participates in ongoing professional development through in-service education activities provided by the district and self-selected professional growth activities. Administers standardized tests in accordance with district testing program and to determine special education eligibility. Participates in curriculum development programs as required. Participates in faculty committees and the sponsorship of pupil activities. Other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Must have MA DESE Moderate Disabilities license at the appropriate grade level
  • Must have excellent communication and interpersonal skills and possess a high level of capability with technology.
  • Knowledge and comfort level with using virtual communication systems like Zoom
  • Must be able to assist in the protection of students and school property, assist the principal in fire and other emergency drills as required by law and School Committee policy
  • Experience and commitment to working in a racially and culturally diverse teaching and learning community
  • Must be willing and able to physically manage students if needed.
