The Special Education Paraprofessional is a full-time instructional support specialist, working under the direction of Licensed Teacher(s) in a Catholic, K-8 school setting. The SPED Paraprofessional delivers, in the least restrictive learning environment (general education classroom), support to students with significant needs in the areas of reading, language arts, mathematics, or other authorized instructional areas. This role is designed to facilitate access to students with significant disabilities, working 1:1 with these students to meet the goals of their Individualized Catholic Learning Plan (ICLP). In addition to delivering services, the SEP carefully documents and communicates relevant information about the student, the services delivered, and data collected. The SPED Paraprofessional is a qualified professional who meets the requirements to work in a Catholic school in the Archdiocese of Denver. He/she is hired by and directly accountable to all assigned managers and the administration. Daily tasks are communicated by Licensed Teacher(s), and/or administrator(s). The SEP is expected to abide by the policies and procedures of the local school, the Archdiocese of Denver, and the Office of Catholic Schools. He/she cooperates with the principal and staff in providing an environment that promotes the ministry of Catholic education.
