About The Position

We are seeking dedicated and compassionate SPED Paraeducators to provide essential support within our new self-contained elementary classrooms. The Paraeducator will work closely with students, the Special Education Teacher, and a multidisciplinary team (including BCBAs, Occupational Therapists, Speech-Language Pathologists, etc.) to implement individualized education plans, support daily routines, and foster student independence and growth.

Requirements

  • Candidates must meet at least one of the following criteria:
  • Successfully passed the ParaPro Assessment, OR
  • Hold an Associate’s Degree from an approved college, OR
  • Have completed at least 60 credits at an approved college.
  • Willingness to acquire and apply new skills related to special education and behavior support.
  • Physical Management Training (PMT): Required training will be provided.

Nice To Haves

  • Previous experience working with children with special needs is highly preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Provide direct support to students with special needs, primarily those with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), within a self-contained classroom setting.
  • Assist in the implementation of student Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) and behavior intervention plans (BIPs).
  • Support students with behavior management strategies and techniques, promoting positive social interactions and adaptive behaviors.
  • Assist students with daily living skills, including toileting, feeding, and other self-care tasks as needed.
  • Facilitate student engagement in academic and functional activities, supporting the Special Education Teacher in lesson delivery and classroom management.
  • Support students with transitions between activities and environments.
  • Maintain a safe, structured, and supportive learning environment.
  • Collect data on student progress and behavior as directed by the Special Education Teacher and BCBA.
  • Collaborate effectively with the Special Education Teacher, BCBA, and other related service providers (OT, SLP).
