About The Position

The Teacher plans, coordinates, and implements the specialized classroom program for Life Skills, and Functional Academics. Additionally, the teacher provides classroom leadership and works in cooperation with the classroom assistants, and therapists.

Requirements

  • Bachelor Degree or higher
  • Valid Massachusetts Department of Elementary and Secondary Education License, Severe Special Needs preferred
  • At least one year of successful experience preferred
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills
  • Must be able to pass CORI and fingerprint-based state and national criminal background tests

Responsibilities

  • Design and implement programming for sub separate classroom. Understanding of methodologies and assessments for social/emotional, therapeutic behavioral programming, Adaptive Life Skills, and Functional Academic Outcomes.
  • Plans, coordinates, evaluates, and implements a comprehensive curriculum which meets the individualized behavioral, academic, functional and social needs of each student enrolled in the classroom and which is directly related to each child's Individualized Educational Program.
  • Provide small group and direct instruction and supervision of: functional academic/life skills, behavioral and social skill interventions, data collection and remediation throughout the day.
  • Collects, prepares and presents behavioral, academic, and vocational data on each child in the classroom. Maintains behavioral data and applies statistical analysis as required by program standards to measure student progress.
  • Completes Developmental assessments, writes reports and presents at team meetings
  • Collects necessary information and data to write comprehensive IEP's designed to meet individual needs.
  • Provide consultation with teachers and families.
  • Works with the therapists, BCBA, psychologist and assistants in a team teaching capacity, providing classroom leadership and working in cooperation with him/her. Cooperates with the administrative/supervisory and support staff in planning for and scheduling programming and/or services for the students and/or their families.
