About The Position

The Special Education K-2 Cluster Teacher at Chicago Public Schools (CPS) is responsible for providing high-quality education to diverse learners in a supportive and inclusive environment. This role involves developing and implementing individualized education plans (IEPs), collaborating with other educators and support staff, and fostering a respectful classroom culture that values diversity. The teacher will utilize effective instructional strategies to meet the needs of all students and ensure their academic and social success.

Requirements

• A bachelor's degree or higher from a regionally accredited institution of higher education.
• A valid teaching license issued by the Illinois State Board of Education, endorsed in LBS1.
• Completion of the CPS online application and teaching profile.

Responsibilities

• Instruct and track the progress of all students in assigned classes.

• Create a respectful classroom culture that promotes effective learning and growth.
• Design engaging classroom instruction with appropriately challenging questions and aligned assessments.
• Implement the Student Code of Conduct and manage classroom behaviors effectively.
• Utilize curriculum supplements and technology resources to personalize student learning.
• Advocate for equity and cultural competence within the district's vision.
