Job Summary: This role provides comprehensive support to students with disabilities in an inclusive classroom setting. The teacher will develop and implement individualized learning plans, manage student behavior, collaborate with a team, and monitor student progress. This position requires expertise in special education strategies, interventions, and assistive technology to meet the unique needs of each student. Job Responsibilities: Curriculum and Instruction Collaborate with Professional Learning Communities, and appropriate school and district-wide staff to provide comprehensive support for all students. Develop and implement engaging lessons aligned with the District 54 curriculum, and Illinois Learning Standards. Deliver high quality instruction using best practices. Collect, analyze and evaluate student progress utilizing informal and formal assessment data (classroom, district, and state). Integrate technology into instruction to enhance student learning. Instructional Teacher Foster a classroom culture that values individual differences and promotes academic, social and emotional growth by developing a positive relationship with each student, their parents/guardians, and staff members. Plan and implement special education strategies and interventions to meet each student’s individual learning needs, using evidence based strategies, District directed curriculum/programs, and assistive technology. Adapt, modify, or supplement curriculum and teaching methodologies to meet the academic, social emotional, sensory and communication needs of individual students. Design and implement assessments to evaluate students' growth in relation to state or low incidence standards. Implement and support the behavior management plans as created by the IEP team. Case Manager Facilitate the development and coordinate the implementation of the IEP. Collaborate on the development of FBA/BIP, and lead out the implementation of supports and strategies. Collect data to evaluate the ongoing progress of each student’s identified IEP goals. Maintain student records and follow established timelines for completing paperwork. Facilitate Child Study Team and IEP meetings. Plan, guide, and model for instructional assistants and crisis intervention assistants. Collaborate with instructional, general education teachers, and service providers to plan instruction and integration opportunities. Utilize the Child Study Team as a resource to problem solve and collaborate around student needs. Professional Responsibilities Participate in Professional Learning Communities to support student learning. Contribute to the school culture by positively engaging with students, staff and families. Participate reflectively in the teacher evaluation process in order to grow capacity as an educator. Participate in professional development opportunities to enhance skills and knowledge. Build strong relationships with families to create a supportive home-school partnership. Maintain professionalism and adhere to district policies and procedures. Other responsibilities as assigned by building or district administration.
