About The Position

The Reynoldsburg City Schools’ Special Education Coordinator (K–12) is responsible for working closely with the Director of Special Education to develop, implement, and sustain high-quality programs and services for students with disabilities across elementary and secondary levels. The Coordinator is responsible for ensuring that special education programming is implemented with fidelity, compliance, and a strong focus on student outcomes. This role provides districtwide leadership, technical assistance, and oversight to ensure students with disabilities receive appropriate services and supports aligned to their Individualized Education Programs (IEPs).

Requirements

  • Valid Ohio Administrative License
  • Valid Ohio Teaching License in Special Education
  • Minimum of three (3) years of successful experience in special education.
  • Must pass a criminal background check (BCI/FBI).

Nice To Haves

  • Five (5) or more years of experience in special education administration.
  • Experience providing district- or building-level leadership across multiple grade spans (K-12).
  • Proven track record in conflict resolution and Facilitated IEP (FIEP) processes.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate special education programming across K–12 schools.
  • Ensure appropriate delivery of special education services in accordance with students' IEPs.
  • Conduct IEP verifications to ensure compliance with processes, procedures, and delivery of specially designed instruction and related services.
  • Provide training, coaching, and technical assistance to staff including case managers, Intervention Specialists, general education teachers, related service providers, administrators, and support professionals.
  • Ensure district compliance with all local, state, and federal laws and regulations related to students with disabilities and those suspected of having a disability.
  • Assist in the development and implementation of district procedures and policies related to identification, evaluation, placement, and service delivery.
  • Support and participate in districtwide internal monitoring processes.
  • Communicate effectively with stakeholders regarding special education processes, including referrals, evaluations, annual reviews, and re-evaluations.
  • Develop and maintain positive, collaborative relationships with families, staff, and community partners.
  • Collaborate with the transportation department to secure and maintain appropriate transportation services for students with disabilities.
  • Partner with building principals and the Human Resources department to support hiring, staffing, and talent acquisition.
  • Assist in the development and implementation of district MTSS and PBIS frameworks, ensuring fidelity and compliance.
  • Evaluate staff as outlined in the negotiated agreement.
  • Collaborate with building teams, district leadership, and providers regarding outplaced students, related services, and community agencies.
  • Support the development of behavioral management systems, including mental health partnerships and supports.
  • Build and manage relationships with out-of-district service providers and facilities.
  • Support the planning, implementation, and evaluation of district special education initiatives.
  • Integrate research-based best practices into existing programs and new initiatives.
  • Stay current on legal requirements governing special education and ensure their application across district programs.
  • Help process Autism Scholarship and Jon Peterson Scholarship applications districtwide, including use of the Autism Scholarship portal.
  • Help conduct Manifestation Determination Reviews at the district level.
  • Oversee and maintain inventory of special education equipment and materials.
  • Make budgetary and staffing recommendations related to special education programs.
  • Support recruitment, selection, and retention of special education personnel.
  • Maintain confidentiality of student and staff records.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
