About The Position

The Special Education Compliance Coordinator ensures that all special education processes and documentation meet federal, state, and district requirements. This role combines case management responsibilities with oversight of compliance systems, including IEP scheduling, documentation, and progress monitoring. The coordinator works closely with teachers, service providers, and families to ensure the timely, accurate, and legally sound implementation of IEPs.

Requirements

  • At least four years of experience teaching students with exceptionalities.

  • Demonstrated success in collaborating with guardians as stakeholders in the IEP process and adding or removing services as needed

  • Experience managing IEP caseloads and facilitating meetings
  • Strong organizational, writing, and time-management skills
  • Ability to manage multiple deadlines and maintain attention to detail
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • New York State certification in Special Education.
  • Master’s Degree or higher in Special Education.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain an assigned caseload of students with Individualized Education Programs (IEPs)
  • Facilitate and participate in IEP meetings, ensuring all legal and procedural requirements are met
  • Develop, review, and revise IEPs in collaboration with team members
  • Ensure accommodations, modifications, and services are clearly documented and implemented
  • Create, manage, and monitor the annual IEP calendar to ensure all meetings, evaluations, and reviews occur within mandated timelines
  • Support case managers with the IEP process, including onboarding new staff, gathering information from content teachers, and providing feedback on upcoming IEPs to ensure they are high-quality and individualized for each student.
  • Track due dates for annual reviews, triennial evaluations, and progress reports
  • Ensure compliance with IDEA, state regulations, and district policies
  • Create IEP caseloads at the beginning of each school year
  • Support the billing process at 6 intervals during the school year
  • Create and distribute IEP teacher reports outlining student accommodations, goals, and services
  • Ensure testing accommodations for all students with IEPs and 504 plans are up to date and accurate on PowerSchool
  • Write and oversee the completion of progress reports aligned to IEP goals
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date student records and compliance documentation
  • Apply for College Board testing accommodations for all 9th graders with IEPs
  • Support with onboarding and schedule creation for Speech-Language Providers and other related service providers
