About The Position

The Coos Bay School District is accepting applications for an experienced Special Education Case Manager Job Summary: This is a full-time, represented position. The Special Education Case Manager is responsible for overseeing and managing the development and implementation of Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) for students receiving special education services. They are also assigned as coaches for instructional staff to promote inclusive education. This role ensures compliance with state and federal laws, facilitates collaboration between special and general education staff, and supports the delivery of services that meet student needs.

Requirements

  • Properly endorsed Oregon Teaching License (Special Education)
  • Strong ability to work as a team member
  • Must possess excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Knowledge of elementary curriculum and standards, including a comprehensive ability to scaffold instruction
  • In-depth knowledge of data collection to inform instruction and planning
  • Experience creating and implementing Behavior Support Plans/Behavior Intervention Plans
  • Create and manage individualized schedules and calendars for a large caseload.

Nice To Haves

  • Preferred 8+ years experience as a Special Education Teacher
  • Collaborative Problem Solving training preferred
  • Experience in a variety of SPED settings, resource, self-contained, inclusion/co-teaching preferred

Responsibilities

  • IEP Development and Compliance: Draft, review, and revise IEPs in compliance with IDEA and district guidelines.
  • Ensure all timelines for annual reviews, evaluations, and progress reporting are met.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date documentation in the student’s special education records.
  • Service Delivery: Monitor the implementation of IEP goals and services.
  • Coordinate with service providers (e.g., speech-language pathologists, occupational therapists) to ensure students receive the required supports.
  • Track student progress and ensure appropriate adjustments to goals or services as needed.
  • Oversee Tier 3 instruction and ensure students receive appropriate individualized interventions.
  • Collaboration and Communication: Serve as a liaison between special education and general education staff to support inclusive practices.
  • Provide guidance and support to general education teachers to implement accommodations and modifications.
  • Facilitate communication with parents/guardians to address concerns and provide updates on student progress.
  • Case Management: Coordinate and schedule IEP meetings, ensuring appropriate team members are present.
  • Lead IEP meetings and foster a collaborative environment for decision-making.
  • Address questions and concerns from families and staff regarding special education services.
  • Professional Collaboration: Work with educators and support staff to promote student success and meet individual needs.
  • Participate in MTSS Intervention Teams to provide expertise in special education interventions.
  • Collaborate with building administrators to address systemic or classroom-specific issues related to special education.
  • Provide training or resources to staff as needed regarding IEP-related procedures and compliance.
