About The Position
Crow Island Elementary School (K-4) has an immediate opening for a full-time Special Education Associate (long term sub assignment). JOB TITLE: Classroom Special Education Associate LOCATION: Crow Island School CHARACTERISTICS: Classroom and/or special education based student and program support REPORTS TO: Building Principal EVALUATION: Building Principal OVERVIEW OF THE POSITION Provides assistance to students and teachers in the general education and/or special services environments
Requirements
- Valid Illinois Professional Educator's License.
- Good organizational/leadership skills.
- Meets established deadlines.
- Clearance of FBI Background check and EHR/Faith's Law required.
- TB test within 90 days of hire date; Physical Exam within last year of hire date.
Nice To Haves
- Valid First Aid/CPR Cards preferred.
Responsibilities
- Follow the directives of the lead teacher(s)
- Work with individual students, small groups, or whole class of students to reinforce and enrich learning
- Deliver interventions in the Response to Intervention (RtI) model under the direction of the lead teacher
- Communicate effectively with children and adults
- Assist the teacher in devising special strategies for reinforcing the skills of individual students based on their needs, special skills, or abilities
- Support established classroom and behavior management procedures
- Help students operate and care for equipment or instructional materials assigned by the teacher
- Distribute and collect instructional materials to support the instructional program
- Assist with supervision of students
- Assist students as developmentally appropriate
- Alert the teacher to any problem or specific information related to an individual student's needs
- Maintain a high level of ethical behavior and confidentiality
- Participate in professional development, in-service, and training as required
- Fulfill additional supervision and safety duties as assigned
- Assist in ordering, cataloging, and storing instructional materials
- Perform all other duties as assigned
