Special Ed Instructional Aide - 4 days a week
About The Position
Ascend is a multidisciplinary company that provides Speech, Occupational, and Physical therapy to children in the format that best suits them. We serve kids in a variety of settings such as home-based, outpatient clinics, and in our inclusion preschools. We offer mentorship/support, the ability to learn, grow, and make a difference to our school-based team that serves hundreds of kids across CA. Under supervision, the Instructional Assistant will perform a variety of instructional and clerical activities as directed by a teacher in a preschool classroom setting and will need to perform all related duties as assigned. Instructional Assistants will assist with day-to-day classroom activities, games, play time, meal times, biological needs, and more. This is a hands-on, in-person position working directly with preschool aged students. This position is ~22-25 hours per week.
Requirements
- High school diploma
- Prior professional experience working with children
Responsibilities
- Tutor students individually or in small groups to reinforce and follow up learning activities
- Assist in the management and shaping of student behavior through the use of positive reinforcement strategies
- Auditory and visual monitoring of students both inside the classroom and during outside activities
- May perform clerical duties such as filing or duplicating materials
- Use computer to maintain student records, attendance and files
- Maintain student discipline in the absence of the teacher
- Assist in maintaining a neat, orderly, and attractive learning environment
- Perform all related duties as assigned
