About The Position

The Special Construction Equipment Operator-Stormwater primarily operates backhoes and other special construction equipment in the installation, maintenance, and repair of the City's stormwater systems, but sanitary sewer and water system work will be required at times. Additionally, utilities general maintenance and good-housekeeping work will be performed as required. The Special Construction Equipment Operator-Stormwater works according to established procedures with work being reviewed regularly by the Utilities Management staff. The Special Construction Equipment Operator-Stormwater will work a mandatory week-long spot on the on-call rotation for after-hours, weekends and holiday tasks.

Requirements

• High School diploma or GED.
• Five (5) years of experience in heavy equipment operation.
• Valid South Carolina Class 'A' Commercial Driver's License (CDL) or ability to obtain one within six (6) months from initial date of employment.

Responsibilities

• Operate backhoes and other special construction equipment.
• Install, maintain, and repair the City's stormwater systems.
• Perform sanitary sewer and water system work as required.
• Conduct utilities general maintenance and good-housekeeping work.
• Follow established procedures with regular work reviews by Utilities Management staff.
• Participate in a mandatory week-long on-call rotation for after-hours, weekends, and holiday tasks.
