HRA is dedicated to fighting poverty and income inequality by providing New Yorkers in need with essential benefits such as Food Assistance and Emergency Rental Assistance. DHS is committed to preventing and addressing homelessness in New York City by employing a variety of innovative strategies to help families and individuals successfully exit shelter and return to self-sufficiency as quickly as possible. The Office of Information Technology Services (ITS) at the New York City Department of Social Services (DSS) delivers enterprise technology services to support programmatic operations across DSS, HRA and DHS. ITS manages critical platforms, application development, cybersecurity, infrastructure, and data operations that enable the agency to serve millions of New Yorkers efficiently and securely. Under the direction of the Deputy Commissioner for Information Technology, with latitude for independent judgment and decision making, the Special Assistant is responsible for: providing high-level administrative and operational support within ITS’s fast-paced, technology-driven environment; ensuring strong administrative organization, effective communication within the Deputy Commissioner’s group, across ITS, and throughout the Agency, often on technical matters; ensuring the Deputy Commissioner’s office operates with precision and alignment to agency priorities.
