About The Position

The Special Assistant U.S. Attorney (SAUSA) position in the Criminal Division, Misdemeanor Unit of the Fresno office involves assisting in the enforcement of Federal criminal laws, particularly focusing on prosecuting misdemeanor violations. The role offers substantial training in federal crime investigation and prosecution, along with opportunities to attend formal training and conferences with other U.S. Attorneys. This is a one-year appointment without compensation, and employees are restricted from engaging in compensated legal practice outside the office.

Requirements

  • J.D. degree from an accredited law school.
  • Active member in good standing of the bar in any jurisdiction.
  • United States Citizenship is required.
  • Must pass a satisfactory pre-employment adjudication including fingerprint, credit, and tax checks.
