UW–Green Bay’s mission provides access to education that prepares students to lead and serve their communities. The Special Assistant to the Provost leads projects and process improvements that support this mission and the academic side of the university. This position reports directly to the Provost and plays a central role in supporting the Provost and Academic Affairs by implementing policies and procedures, managing key initiatives, and enhancing administrative processes that advance the University’s mission and strategic priorities. The role collaborates across divisions, supports the Associate Provost on initiatives such as accreditation, and coordinates day-to-day operational logistics to ensure Academic Affairs functions effectively. A significant portion of this role involves advising on and overseeing budget for Academic Affairs, including monitoring expenditures, supporting annual planning, and ensuring that financial decisions align with institutional goals and long-term priorities. The position works closely with staff on administrative and programmatic matters, serves on committees as needed, and provides administrative support for Provost-level recruitment processes. Through this work, the role contributes to a strong, collaborative, mission-driven academic community.

  • Implements and executes policies and procedures for the Provost Office and Academic Affairs to align with established strategies
  • Serves on committees and attends meetings, representing the interests of the unit or program
  • Focuses on budget oversight, strategy, and planning for Academic Affairs
  • Analyzes data and trends, compiles progress reports, and provides appropriate recommendations or conclusions within Academic Affairs
  • Schedules logistics and organizes schedule for the Provost and Academic Affairs to contribute to the day-to-day operational success
  • Support the Associate Provost as needed (e.g. HLC Accreditation)
  • Serve as administrative support for Provost-level recruitment committees
  • Manages projects and process improvements within and related to Academic Affairs, including communicating and collaborating well across divisions
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team with exceptional organizational, problem-solving, multi-tasking, and decision-making skills
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Outlook, and Excel
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and projects while meeting deadlines
  • Excellent oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills
  • Bachelor's Degree
