About The Position

The Special Assistant to the Provost for University-Wide Programs will provide academic leadership across key areas such as the Core Curriculum, Honors Program, and Career Development. This two-year appointment aims to align these units with the university's academic priorities, with an evaluation after 18 months to determine future direction. The role includes managing initiatives to enhance transfer student success and retention, serving as a liaison across multiple university divisions, and supervising program directors.

Requirements

  • Advanced degree in a relevant field; Ph.D. or terminal degree preferred.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in higher education, particularly in curriculum development or student success.
  • Demonstrated leadership experience in academic programs, with knowledge of core curriculum and honors programs.
  • Knowledge of best practices for transfer student success and retention strategies.

  • Experience with curriculum development and shared governance processes.
  • Proven ability to manage cross-functional teams and collaborate with university leaders.
  • Strong communication, collaboration, and organizational skills.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee Core Curriculum development, assessment, and enhancement.
  • Manage the Honors Program, including curriculum and student development activities.
  • Direct Career Development initiatives to support career readiness for students.
  • Coordinate 3 + 1 Programs with university partners.
  • Lead efforts to enhance transfer student success and implement academic strategies.
  • Serve as Academic Liaison to Student Success and Engagement (SSE).
  • Drive initiatives to improve student retention and academic success.
  • Teach two courses per academic year.
