About The Position

Summary: The Special Assets Officer is primarily responsible for managing the bank’s portfolio of non-performing and classified assets utilizing workout strategies and recovery efforts to minimize credit losses.

Requirements

  • Five years or more of special assets collection, or related experience and/or training or equivalent combination of education or experience.
  • Strong knowledge of Commercial, Commercial Real Estate, SBA, Mortgage, and general lending processes and regulations.
  • Strong knowledge of credit underwriting.
  • Solid understanding of collateral and loan documentation.
  • Knowledgeable in financial institution operating policies and procedures as well as state and federal banking regulations.

Responsibilities

  • Assess problem loans and develop, negotiate, and execute resolution strategies to emphasize rapid resolution and minimization of credit losses. Ensures proper risk rating, accrual status, and other management reporting is maintained timely and accurately.
  • Assess collateral adequacy and potential impairments by ordering and reviewing appraisals, title searches, and other due diligence to assess recovery potential.
  • Directly manage all aspects of specific problem loan accounts as well as assist loan officers with assessing and managing credit quality. Provide oversight and management of accounts in bankruptcy, foreclosure, and collection. Responsible for reporting on delinquencies, watchlists, charge-offs, and recoveries.
  • Maintain Other Real Estate Owned properties, including maintenance, marketing, and disposition, as well as oversee general facilities maintenance for all branches and administrative offices.
