About The Position

Shore United Bank is seeking a full-time Special Assets Executive to join our team. The Special Assets Executive serves as the senior functional leader responsible for bank‑wide oversight of special assets, collections, delinquency management, recovery performance, and resolution of troubled credits. This role develops and executes strategies for maximizing recoveries, minimizing losses, elevating portfolio quality, and ensuring regulatory compliance. The Special Assets Executive leads the team responsible for delinquent accounts, non‑performing loans (NPLs), foreclosures, repossessions, and charged‑off asset dispositions, while collaborating closely with Credit, Legal, Lending, Operations, and external partners.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Business, Economics, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
  • 10+ years of experience in special assets, workouts, collections leadership, credit risk, or troubled debt management
  • 5+ years of experience leading teams within a financial institution.
  • Demonstrated experience in managing NPLs, foreclosures, repossessions, bankruptcy cases, and charged‑off asset recovery.
  • Strong understanding of banking regulations, credit administration, and legal processes affecting distressed assets.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement strategies for collections and special assets management.
  • Serve as the escalation point for complex or high‑value recovery cases.
  • Lead a high‑performing team, driving accountability, results, and continuous improvement.
  • Oversee collections of delinquent accounts and the restructuring of troubled credits.
  • Manage the disposition of special assets, including NPLs, foreclosed properties, and repossessed collateral.
  • Create, maintain, and enforce policies and procedures for collections and special asset management.
  • Ensure compliance with laws, regulations, and internal risk standards.
  • Coordinate with Legal, Compliance, and other risk partners to minimize legal exposure.
  • Establish and track KPIs related to collections, asset recovery, and operational efficiency.
  • Recruit, mentor, and develop collections and asset management staff.
  • Provide ongoing training and skill development to ensure adherence to best practices and regulatory expectations.
  • Collaborate with senior leaders across Credit Risk, Lending, Legal, and Operations to ensure aligned strategies.
  • Manage relationships with external vendors, including collection agencies, law firms, appraisers, and auctioneers.
  • Maximize asset recovery while controlling collection expense and operational cost.
  • Drive innovation in recovery strategies through technology, automation, and analytics.
