About the position

The FBI is seeking Special Agents with a background in psychology or counseling to leverage their expertise in social sciences to contribute to investigations and public safety. This role involves rigorous training, ongoing professional development, and the opportunity to work on complex cases that require analytical skills and insight into human behavior.

Responsibilities

  • Adhere to strict standards of conduct and undergo a rigorous background investigation, credit checks, and a polygraph to obtain a Top Secret SCI Clearance.
  • Pass all physical fitness requirements and maintain a high level of fitness throughout your career.
  • Successfully complete approximately 18 weeks of training at the FBI Academy in Quantico, VA.
  • Be available to transfer to one of the FBI's 56 Field Offices or remote resident agencies after graduation from the Academy.
  • Work a minimum of a 50-hour workweek, including irregular hours, and be on-call 24/7, including holidays and weekends.
  • Participate in arrests, execute search warrants, raids, and similar assignments.
  • Complete the Special Agent Selection System (SASS), a mentally and physically challenging process.

Requirements

  • Must be a U.S. citizen.
  • Must be at least 23 years old and not have reached your 37th birthday on appointment.
  • Must be able to obtain a Top Secret SCI Clearance.
  • Must have two years of full-time professional work experience.
  • Must possess a valid driver's license with at least six months of driving experience.
  • Must have a bachelor's degree or higher, preferably in psychology, social work, counseling, or similar fields.
