The SPD Tech position at Valley Medical Center involves performing data entry, dispensing supplies, checking par levels, breaking out stock, assembling and storing commercial supplies, and assembling Surgical Case Carts. The role also includes environmental maintenance, assisting in the Mail Center, and managing the distribution and collection of oxygen cylinders and equipment. This position is critical to the Distribution and Mail Center departments and requires effective communication and organizational skills.

  • Performs daily par-level inventory of supplies.
  • Assembles correct supplies in bins on delivery carts from designated pick list daily.
  • Delivers and restocks supplies in assigned areas using correct stock rotation method.
  • Constantly checks for outdates and replaces supplies when found.
  • Assembles requested supplies for Surgery areas/case carts.
  • Reconciles shelf discrepancies.
  • Communicates in a positive and effective method both inter-intra departmental.
  • Presents a courteous and polite manner when inquiries are made whether by phone or personal contact at all times.
  • Assures that proper storage techniques and good housekeeping practices are followed to ensure acceptable storage conditions for medical and surgical product throughout VMC.
  • Performs daily oxygen cylinder distribution and collection.
  • Delivers full tanks to storage areas, including crash carts, ventilators and anesthesia carts.
  • Swaps partials between storage areas.
  • Removes empty tanks and stores in cage.
  • Breaks out and places supplies in designated area for storage.
  • Delivers all STAT requests immediately with the correct requested supply or equipment.
  • Responds to phone/printer orders delivering requested supplies and equipment within 15 minutes.
  • Records all supplies sent or returned accurately on pre-issue or credits records.
  • Performs correct data entry into the computer system for requested supplies/credits.
  • Picks up and delivers isolation and Mother carts.
  • Restocks isolation and Mother carts.
  • Assists in assigned area of department annual inventories/cycle counts.
  • Assists with modifications or development in all supply and service areas when requested.
  • Performs borrow/loan function as needed.
  • Provides service and information requests from physician/customers inquiries.
  • Sorts mail by department and/or physician for proper distribution.
  • Makes one scheduled pickup and delivery round daily.
  • Prepares outgoing mail for pickup by Postal Express by 3:30pm.
  • Maintains supplies necessary for daily performance of duties.
  • Evaluates and maintains adequate supply of postage in accounts for Business Reply/Postage Due on a weekly/monthly basis.
  • Maintains equipment on a daily basis and calls for repairs as needed.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
  • High School or GED diploma preferred.
  • One year experience in supply distribution preferred.
  • Valid Washington State Drivers License (or the ability to obtain one).
  • Neat and well groomed appearance.
  • Able to communicate effectively in a diverse population.
  • Proven history of good attendance.
  • Proven history for performance aligned with the Service Culture Guidelines.
  • Demonstrates effective interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently and in teams with good problem solving, communication and organizational skills.
  • Ability to set priorities, produce accurate work and meet deadlines.
  • Ability to function in a setting with a wide variety of duties and numerous interruptions.
