About The Position

The Spanish TK Teacher at King-Chavez Neighborhood of Schools is responsible for providing high-quality education to transitional kindergarten students. Requirements

  • Valid CA Multiple Subject Teaching Credential.
  • At least 24 Units of Early Childhood Education or Child Development.
  • Ability to read, write, and speak in English and Spanish.
  • Bachelor's Degree including all courses needed to meet credential requirements.
  • Employment contingent on satisfactory completion of a criminal background check and negative TB skin test or chest X-ray.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in preschool education.
  • CLAD/BCLAD/CTEL or equivalent certification.

Responsibilities

  • Build quality relationships with students.
  • Establish a culture of high expectations and prepare students for later grades.
  • Engage and support all students in learning using diverse instructional strategies.
  • Instruct students in citizenship and character education.
  • Plan and monitor learning experiences that reflect standards-based expectations.
  • Prepare and utilize lesson plans and materials for substitute teachers.
  • Facilitate literacy-focused small-group instruction opportunities.
  • Assess and document students' academic and social growth regularly.
  • Collaborate with parents to keep them informed of their children's progress.
  • Work with Special Education personnel to provide instructional services to students with special needs.
  • Create and implement a classroom management plan for a safe learning atmosphere.
  • Supervise students during the school day and at extracurricular activities.
  • Maintain a clean classroom environment and professional appearance.
  • Collaborate with fellow teachers on curriculum development and assessment.
  • Attend meetings, parent conferences, and evening school programs as required.
