About The Position

The Spanish TK Teacher at King-Chavez Neighborhood of Schools is responsible for providing high-quality education to transitional kindergarten students. This role involves building relationships with students, engaging them in learning, and preparing them for future academic success. The teacher will utilize various instructional strategies to meet diverse student needs and will collaborate with parents and staff to support student development.

Requirements

• Valid CA Multiple Subject Teaching Credential.
• At least 24 Units of Early Childhood Education or Child Development.
• Ability to read, write, and speak in English and Spanish.
• Bachelor's Degree including all courses needed to meet credential requirements.
• Employment contingent on satisfactory completion of a criminal background check and negative TB skin test or chest X-ray.

Nice To Haves

• Experience in preschool education.
• CLAD/BCLAD/CTEL or equivalent certification.

Responsibilities

• Build quality relationships with students.
• Establish a culture of high expectations and prepare students for later grades.
• Engage and support all students in learning using diverse instructional strategies.
• Instruct students in citizenship and character education.
• Plan and monitor learning experiences that reflect standards-based expectations.
• Prepare and utilize lesson plans and materials for substitute teachers.
• Facilitate literacy-focused small-group instruction opportunities.
• Assess and document students' academic and social growth regularly.
• Collaborate with parents to keep them informed of their children's progress.
• Work with Special Education personnel to provide instructional services to students with special needs.
• Create and implement a classroom management plan for a safe learning atmosphere.
• Supervise students during the school day and at extracurricular activities.
• Maintain a clean classroom environment and professional appearance.
• Collaborate with fellow teachers on curriculum development and assessment.
• Attend meetings, parent conferences, and evening school programs as required.
