Ascent Classical Academy of Northern Colorado is looking for a part time Spanish teacher for the 26/27 school year. Position Summary: This position will be responsible for teaching two sections of a language course-Spanish, French or another classical or modern language-in the Upper School (grades 7-12). The ideal candidate is passionate about classical education, highly knowledgeable in their subject area, and committed to cultivating moral and intellectual virtue in students through a liberal arts approach. Essential Duties & Responsibilities: The Upper School Language Instructor is responsible for excellence in the following areas: Classroom Instruction Prepare and deliver engaging, content-rich lessons grounded in classical pedagogy. Use direct instruction to lead students in thoughtful engagement with vocabulary, grammar, translation, and the broader literary and cultural context of the language. Maintain a well-ordered, respectful classroom aligned with the school's culture and expectations. Curriculum & Assessment Implement and refine curriculum under the guidance of the department chair and academic leadership. Create, administer, and evaluate assessments that reflect both rigor and clarity of content. Maintain up-to-date records of student progress and provide timely, constructive feedback. Student Formation Promote the development of intellectual and moral virtue through the study of language. Build strong relationships with students and foster a classroom environment that supports discipline, joy, and academic excellence. Partner with parents and staff to support student success. Position Requirements: Bachelor's degree in education or related field required; master's degree or equivalent experience strongly preferred. Minimum 3 years classroom teaching experience; classical school experience preferred. Previous leadership or coaching experience strongly preferred. Strong knowledge of Latin or another classical/modern language appropriate for a classical curriculum. Passion for liberal arts education and classical pedagogy. Excellent classroom management and communication skills. Ability to plan effectively, adapt to student needs, and collaborate with colleagues. Clear, accurate, and professional communication. Professional in appearance, tone, and conduct. Commitment to the mission and philosophy of classical education. Support of the school's Core Virtues and culture of high expectations. Demonstrate consistent and reliable attendance by adhering to assigned work hours, reporting on time, and following proper procedures for absences or tardiness to ensure minimal disruption to students, colleagues, and school operations. Other duties as assigned Physical Requirements Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds. Must be able to traverse classrooms and school facilities. Prolonged periods of sitting, standing, or walking. Ability to supervise and interact with students indoors and outdoors.
