Spanish Teacher Position at St. Joseph Hill Academy HS, Staten Island Mission Statement: St. Joseph Hill Academy, a Catholic High School, in keeping with Christian values and the traditions of the daughters of Divine Charity, seeks to educate and empower young women to be confident, independent thinkers with strong character and leadership qualities, who stand ready to meet society's challenges. Description of the Academy: St. Joseph Hill Academy is an all-girls private preparatory school of about 400 students in grades 9-12. Located on Staten Island, near the Verranzano Bridge, it is known for its strong academic tradition, supportive community, and commitment to developing confident, intellectually curious, and service-driven leaders. Qualifications and Requirements: The ideal candidate for this position is a dynamic, student-centered educator with a strong command of the Spanish language and a passion for fostering cultural understanding. They should be able to confidently teach Spanish Levels 1–3, designing engaging lessons that support language acquisition, communication skills, and authentic cultural learning. Candidates with several years of experience teaching Spanish are strongly preferred. A master's degree in Spanish, Education, or a related field is desirable but not required. New York State teaching certification is preferred but not mandatory for consideration. The ideal teacher demonstrates strong classroom management, differentiated instructional practices, and a commitment to collaboration within the World Languages department. They bring enthusiasm, professionalism, and a dedication to supporting students' growth as global learners, contributing positively to the school community. The salary range for the Spring Semester is $27,000-$35,000 commensurate with experience for 5 classes (2 Spanish I classes and 3 Spanish III classes) plus additional school responsibilities and 2 prep periods.
