About The Position

The Spanish Teacher is responsible for facilitating effective Spanish language learning, promoting the academic, professional, and personal development of students. This role requires a combination of instructional, administrative, and mentoring skills, with the goal of preparing students for standardized assessments, employment readiness, and overall success in their training.

Requirements

  • Minimum of a Bachelor’s degree in Secondary Education or a related field.
  • Current state certification as a secondary education teacher in Spanish language in the state where services are provided.
  • At least one (1) year of experience working with youth ages 16 to 24, preferably from disadvantaged backgrounds.
  • Experience teaching in dynamic, team-based environments.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office.
  • Must obtain and maintain valid CPR and First Aid Certification.
  • Puerto Rico Law 300 Certification
  • Puerto Rico driver's license and good driving record.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of the Spanish language subject area.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Strong organizational and planning abilities.
  • Ability to teach collaboratively and adapt to changing environments.
  • Effective communication skills for both in-person and virtual settings (e.g., webinars).
  • Strong public speaking and presentation skills for workshops and group activities.
  • Ability to use educational technology and integrate it into classes.
  • High cultural awareness and sensitivity to the diversity of the student population.
  • Ability to co-teach and work in a dynamic and constantly changing environment.
  • Strong communication, organizational, and leadership skills.
  • Ability to locate resources to overcome potential barriers to successful program completion.
  • Self-motivation, flexibility, and ability to work in a team.

Responsibilities

  • Support student improvement in standardized reading test scores.
  • Establish a positive and motivating classroom environment that fosters student engagement.
  • Maintain high levels of accountability and discipline to maximize learning outcomes.
  • Document student attendance, performance, progress, and behavior in a timely manner and in accordance with program guidelines.
  • Report any deficiencies to the manager.
  • Deliver instruction using provided curriculum resources and develop supplemental materials as needed.
  • Integrate applied academic activities into the classroom curriculum.
  • Enforce the Center’s dress code and behavioral standards.
  • Ensure proper classroom preparation for daily instruction.
  • Track student performance and assist students in setting short-, mid-, and long-term goals.
  • Maintain classroom cleanliness and organization.
  • Recognize and reinforce student success and achievements.
  • Adhere to all data integrity measures related to instruction and testing.
  • Foster positive working relationships with colleagues.
  • Assess participants’ job readiness skills.
  • Conduct activities to enhance motivation and communication skills.
  • Assist with workshops on life skills and job readiness.
  • Administer assessments to measure participant competency in program components.
  • Support participants in job search efforts, overcoming barriers, and managing work-life balance.
  • Maintain daily attendance and time records for all participants.
  • Ensure compliance with all Center rules and regulations.
  • Design and deliver individualized lesson plans based on student needs.
  • Create assessments, reinforce classroom rules, and supervise students outside the classroom.
  • Collaborate with administration on special assignments or activities.
  • Complete monthly student assessments.
  • Submit requests for instructional materials, books, and supplies.
  • Coordinate with the Special Education teacher to ensure reasonable accommodations.
  • Participate in departmental meetings and meet all deadlines.
  • Support staff in all student-related activities.
  • Monitor compliance with the student handbook.
  • Record and maintain student files in the CIS system (case notes, etc.).
  • Coordinate or assist with graduation ceremonies and awards assemblies.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by management.
