About The Position
As a Spanish Medical Interpreter at Banner Health, you will play a crucial role in facilitating communication between healthcare providers and Limited English Proficient (LEP) patients and their families. This position is essential in ensuring that patients receive the highest quality of care by acting as a neutral conduit of information. You will be responsible for interpreting medical terminology, support services, and healthcare policies to LEP patients, ensuring they understand their medical care and can express their questions or concerns effectively. Your role will also involve documenting all interpretation services accurately and clearly, which is vital for maintaining the integrity of patient care records. In addition to interpretation, you will serve as a cultural mediator when necessary, enhancing communication between patients and healthcare staff. This position requires you to confer with your supervisor on any unusual situations that may arise, ensuring that all parties involved are informed and supported. You will work closely with various internal customers, including nursing management, medical staff, and volunteers, as well as external customers such as family members of patients. The position is facility-based, and while it does not carry budgetary responsibilities, it is integral to the overall patient care experience at Banner Estrella Medical Center. This role offers flexible scheduling with varied hours available, primarily during night shifts.
