About The Position

As a Medical Interpreter at Salem Health, you will play a crucial role in supporting patient care by facilitating communication between patients, visitors, and healthcare providers. This position requires excellent customer care skills and the ability to effectively communicate in both working languages, ensuring understanding and clarity in medical settings. The role is unscheduled, providing flexibility but with limited guaranteed hours.

Requirements

• High School Diploma or Equivalent preferred.
• Currently certified or qualified through Oregon Health Authority (OHA).
• Formal two (2) years interpreting experience or completion of a state-approved health care interpreter training course.
• Fluency in both working languages is required.
• Health care experience, particularly with medical terminology, is desirable.
• Some assignments may require a current Oregon driver's license, dependable automobile, and current personal auto insurance coverage.

Responsibilities

• Provide and coordinate language interpretation between patients, visitors, and healthcare providers.
